Description

WOO. Cut it a little close OTL. Hopefully everything checks out. I'm not... totally happy with the way the written stuff turned out, but I'm running out of time. *sobs loudly* If I make it in, I'll most likely rewrite some of this so it sounds less stupid when I've learned to conquer writer's block.

Anywho. For those of you who remember Tony, fear not! She'll be coming along to 'I Don't Know' eventually! I just wanted to kick off my time in this lovely establishment with a new baby. Hopefully.

Everybody, meet Alfie.

---------------

Name: Alfred "Alfie" Rikard Stenger

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Species: Nidoran ♂

Hometown: Fuchsia City

Birthdate: April 10th

Nature: Bold

Moveset: Rock Smash, Cut, Focus Energy, Horn Drill

Personality:
Adventure is Alfie's middle name. Ok, so maybe that's not true, but anyone that knows him would probably tell you it would have been an appropriate choice. Even at a young age he was never afraid to jump into something if it interested him even a little. What's the point in holding back, after all? He's more than willing to throw himself headfirst into new situations without a second thought. Sure it's a little reckless, but his unusual passions have taught him that sometimes it's best to worry less about what other people think and spend more time enjoying yourself. It certainly helps that the nidoran was blessed with a nearly permanent upbeat attitude and a healthy ability to shrug off skepticism. The young nidoran's naivety doesn't hurt either. It takes a lot to bring him down.

Fiercely passionate about what he loves and unafraid to show it, Alfie could spend days telling you all he knows about ancient civilizations and never grow tired. You never know when you'll spark a similar interest in someone else, and there's nothing better than sharing your favorite things with the people you love. Alfie adores having those kinds of connections, and it doesn't end with his own interests. He's more than willing to try something if a friend recommends it for exactly the same reason.

Alfie does have a bad habit of getting distracted though. His mind has the extraordinary ability to slip away to far-off places if he isn't careful, and he knows it doesn't take much. One glance to the distance in the middle of a conversation and he could be gone for minutes at a time if no one intervenes. He does his best to focus when it's important though! Really he does. There's just so much going on in his head that it's hard to keep track of one thing at a time.

History:
Alfie Stenger was a mere 9 years old when his life's passion found him. Sure it sounds crazy, but that doesn't make it any less true.

It helps that his life up until that point wasn't particularly remarkable. Life in Fuchsia was alright. The Safari Zone had been closed long before Alfie was born, as had the zoo. The Catching Shows at the Pal Park offered a fair bit of entertainment for a while, but even that never really held his attention the way it did his older siblings.

It was just after his 9th birthday that his aunt stopped by for a short visit. She came bearing gifts, as family often does, and that was how Alfie's life changed. The book he unwrapped wasn't very big and it looked like it had been dragged down Cycling Road a time or two, but something about the faded turquois cover with its brightly painted flowers enchanted the little nidoran. He disappeared into his room with it and wasn't seen again for hours, but when he emerged there was a new fire in his eyes.

Cealsa, the mythic lost city. That was what the book had described. They said it was the most incredible city ever built. Water blessed by a suicune and touched by a cresselia cascaded from fountains carved into the buildings themselves and collected in softly glowing pools set beside the roads, and the most magnificent flowers were said to grow from the water's surface. The people that lived there were known the world over for their gorgeous statues and meticulous records, and yet somehow it had all seemingly vanished from the world without a trace. Nobody knew where Cealsa had gone, or even where it was supposed to have been in the first place. Most people didn't even believe it existed. Alfie didn't let that discourage him though. A door had been opened in his head and his heart that day, and it would never be closed again.

Over the years that followed, the little nidoran gobbled up everything he could find about mystical cities, lost civilizations, ancient myths, and everything in between. Everyone thought it was a little kid's obsession, but by the time he graduated school he had accumulated quite the store of knowledge on the subjects. He had theories abound about where Cealsa could be, along with several other lost cities, and he had every intention of exploring them. He had even taught himself to read ancient glyphs.

Unfortunately Alfie didn't come from the richest of families and his dreams weren't exactly cheap. It took him a few years of working at the Pal Park to scrape together enough money, but finally, a few months after he had turned 24, he had saved enough to take that trip. He knew just where to start, too--the Ruins of Alph. Armed with loads of books, charts, and maps, Alfie boarded the SS Aqua and set off for Johto and the rest of his life. And while the journey itself was beautiful, the anticipation of what waited at the end made it hard to enjoy the view. Olivine city wasn't particularly far from the ruins, but they still felt light years out of reach when he disembarked the ship at last. Excitement has a funny way of doing that.

Alfie did make it to the ruins eventually, and they lived up to his every expectation. It was beautiful, and he could hardly believe he was actually there. He spent days at a time wandering through the crumbling halls and deciphering the unown glyphs on the walls in hopes that he might discover a hidden chamber or something, but as the final few days of his trip began to draw nearer all he had managed to do was fill notebook upon notebook with odd messages. It was a little disheartening, but the trip had been incredible, and he knew for sure that this was what he wanted to do in life.

He was leaving the ruins for the final time when he saw a note lying at the base of a wall. Maybe he should have left it, but something about it was too tempting not to read. By the end of the note he knew why, too. This was it! This mysterious little town was the one he had dreamed of all his life! Cealsa! It had to be there! He could feel it! Phone calls were made home, and new travel plans were made, and by the end of the day Alfie was on his way to 'I Don't Know' to finally realize his dream.

Extras:
--Alfie's great great great grandfather was a champion in both Kanto and Johto. His father's parents were quite proud of this, and it was the reason his aunt became a battler herself.
--Alfie has a tattoo on his upper right arm. It's a quote of some sort, spelled out in unown glyphs. I just haven't figured out what it actually says yet, whoops >.>
--The feather he wears in his ear isn't anything special, but he claims it's a Ho-oh's feather. He also claims it's lucky.
